The Good Life

I am patiently waiting for the Spring season. The weather changes, right along with the leaves. It's so peaceful (if you're in the right place). The fashion. The people. Sunny days. City nights. Lights. Cameras. Hippies. Action. SoHo. Spring time is AMAZING! Spring semester would soon be coming to a halt and that's when the fun beings. I just wonder what new people I'd be meeting over the break but I'll be opened to new things and new people.

Carrie

I just finished watching Season 3 of HBO's Sex and the City and I think it's about time I get my "Carrie Bradshaw" on. After I finished watching the last seconds of the DVD I checked my News Feed on FaceBook. One of my High School friends posted that a few females posted some quotes from Keri Hilson's song Breaking Point. In this song, Keri is basically stating the obvious. Every woman has her breaking point in a relationship where she can't handle any unwanted stress from a man. The reason I'm saying this is because he noticed how many young women were saying that. Are females obsessed with the "man-hating" songs and books that constantly complain about the things we hate about men? Or, are we even more obsessed with fairy tale endings, happily ever afters and beautiful love song?

I've noticed that every year I grow older, I notice certain aspects of the lives that women lead. For generations, women (as well as men) have complained and bickered about the opposite sex. I'm just waiting for the complaining to end and for Captain Save A Heart comes along to educate these young adults. Half of the young people of today can barely keep their lives in order or stay committed to a job. So, how is it that we yern to have that "perfect" somebody?

I can go on for days on the subject of a "perfect being", but, who's to say that somebody would even listen? As I stated before, the problems that we're facing now are the same as a century ago. When will this madness end?

All in the Family

I was looking through my cousins' FaceBook picture of my aunt's funeral and I came across some pictures that really touched me. It was s picture of my grandfather and his sisters. Then a picture of my mother and her siblings. And lastly, there was the picture of my grandmother's grave. I don't know which one hit me more or why, but I guess I just liked the view of family. Together. Of course the reason wasn't a good one but I really like when I'm with my family.

Random Thoughts at 1:30 AM

Sometimes I just sit and think that my thoughts belong to a older and more experienced woman. The way I interpret situations are ways that of a woman in her 30s would. Maybe I am growing up a little too fast but I'm recognizing the reality of it all. Today, Russell Simmons came to my school to talk about his new book titled, "Super Rich". From his summary, the book's meaning is to show people that you must first give before you can "receive". He also stated that people can't give you things that you don't already have and that "making it" isn't really making it. The young adults of my generation truly believe that money will buy their happiness but that's just another cover up of what African-Americans really aren't. My race will do any and every thing to be accepted by society but the fact still remains that it will never be so. We are so influenced by the ignorance of pop culture that we forget that we aren't truly accepted. The "elite" sit back and say, "They'll just keep on faking it until they actually get some where." Some where to us is really a walk in the park for them. American is built on the dynamics of capitalism. Capitalism sure does have a face....and it's not black. Russell Simmons also stated that we must become diverse. Its good not to forget where you came from but don't let where you came from cripple you and hold you back from what you can truly achieve. The way I see it is that my generation has been paralyzed. We haven't even received the chance to LEAVE where we came from to become somebody. More than half of African-Americans have been blinded by the wants of a glamorous life that they know how to make a fast buck. But that same fast buck or scam can be the same thing that'll end their lives forever. Nobody has actually sat and had a real converse about this unless it was with an older adult. But to hear the same words from somebody their age? Preposterous.

Words from a Fan

I can honestly say that I'm a true Wiz Khalifa fan. I support his whole movement, Taylor Gang and any other thing that has to do with his work. He has the strongest fan base that I can think of. Some rappers just have people that just like some of their songs but Taylor Gang loves EVERYTHING. He is original and different. Some say that he isn't a real lyrical artist, which may be true. Some say that all he raps about is marijuana, which is true, but I still respect it. A lot of rappers just talk about how many people they shoot, how many people they had intercourse with and whatever...so just let this young man rap about marijuana. If you look at my iTunes I have EVERY Wiz Khalifa song possible. I don't want the songs that he's just featured in because it's not just him. He is really doing his thing though and people have to respect it. I don't really have that many other rappers in my iTunes. I refuse. It's Taylor Gang or Die lol. I remember when I didn't even know who Wiz Khalifa was and I found out when I started listening to Kush and Orange Juice. That was the first mix-tape that I ever listened to from him. The first three songs I ever heard of his was "Mezmorized" and "Never Been" off of Kush and Orange Juice and "Weed Roller" off of Star Power. I don't own any of his clothing because I like all of the men's clothes. The sweatshirts, tees, and hoodies and it wouldn't fit me right but I still support Taylor Gang. When his album drops in March I will definitely go to buy it from the store and iTunes. I will not bootleg it. Although I'll probably already have the whole thing from the internet if it leaks.

Supporting is something I do best. TGOD.

MSU

I'm finally back at school, and I'm definitely happy about it. I have a new mind-state and I'm happy about it. If you handle your business it's easy to get what you want and you feel a great deal of accomplishment. I've been in Baltimore since Wednesday and I've handled everything that I needed to handle as far as school is concerned. I'm just waiting for Monday so I can put everything into play. I'm very excited about this semester and I can't wait to pull these grades up. I'm dealing with some professors that I've heard nothing about so this shall be very interesting. I'm not scared, nor am I stressing it. Life will always throw the unexpected at you so I'm testing myself to see how I can handle it. :)

Don't get me wrong, this is a smooth picture. But. The licking of the head has got to stop. I mean, what if she had lice? Now it's on your tongue and that is past disgusting guy. Now you'll possibly have the Lice Tongue and the public will never want to see your mouth move again. Lol. Ew.

Still making changes in my life. This is the newest edition.
This is the shortest cut I've had and I'm keeping it!

Tweet Tweet

The Twitter page is gone! Up and deleted it and I feel very good about myself. Lol. I feel it was just another distraction. Now I may just make a new one but that'll be no time soon, or I'll just keep this permanent. Either way you look at it, as of right now, I feel GOOD!!

This is NYC

"It's the swagger that you come with when you come from NEW YORK"

There's just something about growing up in the city that gives you this amazing aura. Certain swagger to you. No other place in the world can touch it. Not even close. I love being a city girl...there's no limit to how I think, act or dress. Very unpredictable ;)

Clear Thoughts

I'm about to make the most drastic change in my lifestyle ever. I'm about to have craziest behavioral changes. My mother always said that it makes you lose your initiative, and the direction that I want to go in life does not require that. The realization that you don't know much in life is a sign of maturity, and I want to grow up. I know you're supposed to "have fun" in college but I think I'm finished with that part for now. There definitely are other ways to have fun so I'm stepping out of the lime light. Never wanted to be in it but I always found myself there. When my mother was telling me all of these things I didn't want to stand there and listen but I've taken the time to. Now I am analyzing and applying it to my daily life. When I return to school in a few weeks there will be a changed Nai and the old one is far from coming back. #POW

Ignorance via Twitter

Soo, I'm in the house chatting with my sister and she decides to read her Twitter timeline out loud. One of the tweets she read was from a girl who basically said that her whole family is rooted in Jamaica and that she has no African descent. *clears throat* Well it is evident that this young lady did not pass history. She's clearly never heard the Triangle Trade and will never pass African Diaspora.

- This is where I end my thoughts. Thanks

Childhood (:

My oh my how time flies!

Friends

When a good friend comes along, keep them near.
There's nothing a person that you can talk to that'll turn a situation around.
It's not even about having your back but smart enough to not get into a horrible situation in the first place.
They finish your sentences.
They know what you're thinking.
They can tell that something's wrong through text.
Although you may give each other space the friendship is stronger than ever.
They are no longer a friend. You became family.
You go to their house and say, "I'm home!"
They're willing to do whatever just because.

I've never said the words, "Because that's what friends do!"

Never had too. I know who my real friends are. Stating names is unnecessary.

i love y'all !! :-*

Btw this is my little sister. DON'T steal this pic. Thanks!

The Wiz

LifeTime Movies: The CraigsList Killer

Sooo..tonight was the premiere of the Life Time movie The CraigsList Killer. I found it very interesting. After you watch a movie like that, comments on retardation just fill your mind. I just can't believe how blinded that woman was about her fiance´. I know that they say, "Love is blind," but love can't be THAT blinding. Jesus.

The more I watched the movie, the more I've realized that he had real issues. It reminded of this book I read my freshman year of high school. The Catcher in the Rye. In the book, the main character (I forgot his name) found himself looking in windows of an apartment building. One of the windows he happened to look in he found himself seeing your everyday, successful business man...cross dressing. He wasn't cross dressing because that was his "style" but it was because he couldn't handle the responsibilities of being a man. A man is looked to symbolize success, power, stability, etc. The man in the window was stressed out from all of that. This seemed to be the case with the Craig's List Killer. He "had it all" as the media said, and from what you can see as well, but the stress of being a medical student drove him crazy. Well...he was already crazy in my mind.

That's the reality of it all. I still aired my comments via Twitter, just felt they didn't belong here. At least not in this post.

Sense and cents. Both come in handy. Must use at proper times.

Pink Phase

There's nothing wrong with this pink lipgloss/lipstick phase that us females are going through. It becomes a problem when you DON'T know how to tone your colors down. If you know it's too bright for your skin tone, base your lips before application. Please. The busy streets of New York City don't need to be disrupted by pink monsters.

-Thanks

Life in a Nutshell.

Life will be hard on TWO occasions.
One: when the unexpected happens.
Two: when you make it that way.
- That's all.

Late Nights.

So, it's 2:45 in the morning. I'm up thinking (as usual). I've realized that 2010 ended very well for me and I just have no reason to be a mad person anymore. It seems like the family issues that I once had are disappearing. Something to be grateful for. I have a feeling that this is going to be a WONDERFUL year ;-*

New Year.

Hi guys! This is a new year so I decided to start blogging. Everybody seems to have a Tumblr. *confused face* I don't like going with the flow, I always have to be the odd ball. It made perfect sense for me to make a Blog Spot instead. This will be fun and interesting! ;)
